There needs to be documentation of informed consent for a camera to be present and the use of Appendix H: Residential Technology Evaluation Tool. | An individual has the right to privacy of person and possessions. | Interview with the Life Sharing Host revealed that the camera that was on top of the refrigerator was for the monitoring of new puppies in the home while the Life Sharing Host and the individual were out of the home at work and Day Program. The view of the camera covers the living room area off the kitchen where the puppies were maintained while no one is home. The camera has no view of the individual¿s bedroom or bathroom. Another walkthrough of the home revealed no other cameras were present. The individual was also interviewed and indicated that he had no problem with the presence of the camera. During the interview, his Life Sharing Program Coordinator ensured to explain to him how the camera works and that when in use, it takes pictures all the time and that if he is in the Living Room area, pictures are being taken of him when the camera is on. His right to his personal privacy was also discussed regarding the use of a camera in the home was also discussed with him. He stated that he understood and had no problem with it. He willingly signed a consent document indicating that he agrees with the placement of the camera and has the right to discuss it with his Life Sharing Host and his Life Sharing Program Coordinator should he change his mind (Attachment #3). |
