6400.68(b)The hot water temperature in the bathtub was 122.1 degrees Fahrenheit at 10:56 AM. Hot water temperatures in bathtubs and showers may not exceed 120°F. The apartment complex maintenance department was immediately notified by Michael Sturges, Director, that the water temperature needed to be reduced as it was at 122.1 degrees. The director verified later in the day that the water temperature in this apartment and the other apartments in the complex were below 120 degrees. Additionally on 5/13/15, Mr. Sturges, the director, made a request for scald guards to be placed on the bath tubs within each of the apartments, which are receiving their water supply from the apartment complex's water heater. The scald guards were installed on 6/9/15. Note: these scald guards had previously not been installed, because each person in these apartments within this complex has the abilitiy to temper their own water emperature. We had been previously informed by ODP inspectors that the temperature in bathtubs is not tested, and indeed had not been tested for many years, in this circumstance. We were unaware of the change in interpretation of this regulation. Further, staff training will be completed for all CCI community staff to follow the hot water protocol. See SIN 00079550 for hot water protocol, as I do not appear to have enough character space to explain it in this CAP?? Training in the plan will be conducted for all staff starting 7/20/15 and end 7/31/15. 07/31/2015 Implemented
