A first aid kit shall contain antiseptic, an assortment of adhesive bandages, sterile gauze pads, a thermometer, tweezers, tape, scissors and syrup of Ipecac, if an individual 4 years of age or younger, or an individual likely to ingest poisons, is served. All first aid kits shall contain tape. The house managers are required to complete a monthly house inspection of the first aid kit to ensure that all needed items are present in the first aid kits. Any items that are found to be missing are to be replaced. All professional and direct support staff have been in-service on the contents of the first aid kit and to purchase and replace the missing items. The Director/Assistant Director review the monthly house inspections to ensure that all areas of concern have been addressed and will conduct quarterly unannounced house inspections to ensure there are no missing items in the first aid kits. 01/25/2018 Implemented

An individual, including an individual 17 years of age or younger, shall be instructed in the individual's primary language or mode of communication, upon initial admission and reinstructed annually in general fire safety, evacuation procedures, responsibilities during fire drills, the designated meeting place outside the building or within the fire safe area in the event of an actual fire and smoking safety procedures if individuals smoke at the home. All Community Home Program Specialists will be in-serviced by the Director and/or Assistant Director, that all individuals that they are responsible for will view the fire safety training video ¿Plan to get out Alive¿ twice per year in January/July. Verification of the viewing is to be placed in the Fire Drill record book.
