| 6400.101 | At 10:22 AM on 7/24/2026, located in the rear of the home's basement, was a man door providing access to exterior Bilco doors. However, this man door was equipped with two sliding latch locks, creating a blocked egress and an entrapment area. | Stairways, halls, doorways, passageways and exits from rooms and from the building shall be unobstructed.
| The identified deficiency was corrected on 07/24/2026 during the agency's field inspection. The two sliding latch locks located on the man door in the rear of the basement, which provide access to the exterior Bilco doors, were removed/corrected to ensure that the doorway and path of egress remained unobstructed and did not create an entrapment concern.
Although the physical deficiency was corrected immediately, the agency will use the 30-day corrective action period to review doors, locking mechanisms, stairways, passageways, and exits throughout its residential locations and implement an enhanced monitoring process to identify and correct potential egress or entrapment concerns before they result in future noncompliance. |
