6400.207(4)(I)Individual #1 is prescribed PRN Hydroxyzine, which is a psychotropic medication and therefore considered a chemical restraint because the agency's written policy regarding psychotropic PRN medications is not tailored to specific individuals or situations in which the administration is warranted in accordance to ODP Bulletin 00-02-09.A chemical restraint, defined as use of a drug for the specific and exclusive purpose of controlling acute or episodic aggressive behavior. A chemical restraint does not include a drug ordered by a health care practitioner or dentist for the following use or event: Treatment of the symptoms of a specific mental, emotional or behavioral condition.Violation 207 (4) (I) has been noted and corrected. See POC attachment # 9. Please be advised that provider maintains that if the medication is prescribed, it is not considered a restraint. in addition to that, we do have a policy that is clear on administration, indications and parameters for their use based upon regulatory compliance and best practice of said drug consistent with ODP Bulletin 00-02-09. On May 16, 2025, the prescribing physician reviewed the PRN medication and made the decision to change it to be administered daily at night based on his assessment. The Physician will monitor the medication's effectiveness in three months or until reported by the nursing staff. The nursing administrator, a licensed partitioner, will oversee the process and efficacy of the medication of the medication. Additionally, the nursing administrator will ensure that psychotropic medications are not utilized as method of restraint. This practice will be implemented in all provider homes. Currently, there are no individual receiving PRN psychotropic medication in provider homes.
