6400.110(e)At the time of the inspection on 6/2/26, the smoke detectors/alarms in the home were not interconnected and audible throughout each floor of the three-story home.If the home serves four or more individuals or if the home has three or more stories including the basement and attic, there shall be at least one smoke detector on each floor interconnected and audible throughout the home or an automatic fire alarm system that is audible throughout the home. The requirement for homes with three or more stories does not apply to homes licensed in accordance with this chapter prior to November 8, 1991. The smoke detectors located throughout the residence were not interconnected as required by Chapter 6400 regulations. As a result, activation of one smoke detector would not automatically activate all smoke detectors within the home. Corrective Action Taken Upon identification of the deficiency, Career Rehabilitation Building Services immediately contacted IT personnel to evaluate the existing smoke detection system. IT personnel corrected by interconnecting all smoke detectors to go off at the same time when alarm is set off and working. All smoke detectors were tested following installation to ensure that activation of one detector causes all smoke detectors within the residence to sound simultaneously. 6400.111(c)At the time of the inspection on 6/2/26, there was not a fire extinguisher with a minimum 2A-10BC rating located in the kitchen. A fire extinguisher with a minimum 2A-10BC rating shall be located in each kitchen. The kitchen extinguisher meets the requirements for one floor as required in subsection (a). Deficiency Identified During inspection/review, it was identified that the fire extinguisher installed in the kitchen was rated 2A-K. The extinguisher had been installed based on guidance provided by the servicing company indicating that this type was being used in kitchens. However, Chapter 6400 regulations require a minimum fire extinguisher rating of 2A-10BC. Corrective Action Taken Upon notification of the deficiency, CEO immediately contacted the fire extinguisher vendor, Blue and explained the specific requirements of Chapter 6400 regulations. The 2A-K rated extinguisher was removed from service and returned to the vendor. A compliant fire extinguisher with a minimum rating of 2A-10BC was obtained and installed in the kitchen on 6/4/26.
